TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE

 

The Foundation provides technical assistance (TA) in research, training, and consultation to Non Governmental Organizations and Government of Indonesia.  Detailed activities are:

1.         Organizing meetings, seminars and a national workshop to assure dissemination of research results and submission of policy recommendations at both national and provincial levels;

2.         Organizing forums to persuade public opinion on particular issues on reproductive health, especially related to women’s reproductive health and rights;

3.         Organizing reproductive health and data management trainings;

4.         Facilitating trainings to increase the teachers and health providers’ ability to address reproductive health issues;

5.         Developing modules and guidance to be used by the midwifery students and teachers;

6.         Developing and distributing publications and other forms of effective communication strategies, such as fact sheet, information and briefing kits, web online information, printed materials as well as audio visual products that can educate other institutions.

 

 

RESEARCH and EVALUATION

 

The Foundation has been conducting researches in the area of sexuality and reproductive health and rights in Indonesia.  There are:

1.    Need Assessment Survey to Injecting Drug Users Actor and User in West Jakarta with the purpose of HIV/AIDS Prevention, 2000.

2.    Survey on Knowledge and Attitude of Adolescent Reproductive Health among Al Izhar Students, South Jakarta, 2000.

3.    Literature Study of Reproductive Tract Infection, in cooperation with LIKHAAN Organization-Manila, 2001.

4.    Literature Study of Social Security Net – Health Division, in cooperation with British Council, 2001.

5.    Adolescent RH (ARH) Program Evaluation in one NGO in Riau, supported by World Population Foundation (WPF), Netherlands, 2003.

6.    The Description of Abortion Client and Their Point of View to Abortion, 2004.

7.    Cost Study of Pregnancy Termination based on the Perspectives of Client’s and Service Provider Institution, 2004.

DISSEMINATION OF INFORMATION

 

The Foundation is continuing disseminating information on sexuality and reproductive health and rights to its beneficiaries.  There are three activities to support this division:

Library

The collection includes unpublished and published information (article, research report, book, photos, video, poster, etc.); consisted of with Mother and Child Health, Family Planning, Adolescent Reproductive Health, ISR and HIV/AIDS, Aging, Gender, and Violence Against Women.  Today, the library owns 2223 titles of book, 3140 magazines/journals (Internal or Foreign), and 116 audio visuals (cassette, CD, and VCD).  To manage the collection, MIF is continuing to use a computerized system called CDS-ISIS (Computerized Documentation System/Integrated Set of Information Systems).  The users of this library are individuals and organization who is looking for RH reference.

This is one of media designed for disseminating information on reproductive health, family planning, RTIs and HIV/AIDS, adolescent reproductive health, elderly, gender and violence against women issues.  The website has been visited by 84.039 visitors since 1 May 2002 until 29 February 2008.  This website offers a membership to internet user, where member could get updated summary of website Kesrepro through their e-mail.
